Don Hyde, Jr. - Chief of Police for Calera, OK
Chief of Police Don Hyde, Jr. has more than 30 years in municipal law enforcement service, holding positions of Police Officer, Lieutenant, and Chief of Police. He has received police management training at the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training, in Oklahoma City. Chief Hyde also holds an advanced certification through the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training.
Hyde was appointed as Chief of Police in Calera in May 2007. As chief, he is responsible for the overall operations of the police department, to include Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Communications and Community Services. During his tenure, he has instituted stringent hiring, retention and training practices.
Prior to his appointment in Calera, Chief Hyde worked for the City of Durant Police Department.
Chief Hyde and his department take a pro-active stand to crimes against women and children. Chief Hyde continues the tradition of the Calera Police Department, in keeping a close relationship with the community. Hyde, along with the rest of the Calera police department, takes pride in the fact that they are very active with the community and schools of not only the Town of Calera, but in Bryan County as a whole. Our “people caring for people” motto is a true now as it always has been and will continue to be.
During Chief Hyde’s career, he has been honored with multiple awards including: an honorary membership into the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a Lifesaver Commendation from the Woodmen of the World, and appointment to the Oklahoma Chiefs of Police Association board, and the District Attorney’s Council (VAWA) Violence Against Women Act, board.
